Dear supporters,
The General Election has been announced, and the fight for migrants’ rights is gearing up. We must take a firm stand against anti-migrant hate spouted by candidates. Now is the time to call for meaningful narrative change around migration and other marginalised groups.
We kick off this month’s newsletter with our Words Matter Toolkit, which holds politicians, specifically candidates, and the media to account on their divisive narratives. Find out what actions you can take by downloading the Toolkit below. We’ve also included new Words Matter explainers and reflections in this newsletter, which you can read more about below.
We’ve also been busy with our Who Is Welcome Campaign on Gender, Queerness and Migration, and so we’ve included our statement on Pride, as well as our zine exploring the intersections of biphobia and bordering.
Below, we spotlight our updates on decolonising migration, which includes an upcoming event with The Decolonial Centre, our new podcast, and reflections from members of our Network on Europe Day. We end this month’s newsletter with Hostile Office updates, and our volunteer legal expert vacancy.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank the AKO Foundation for their generous donation. This will go a long way in helping us continue to provide support to the communities we serve, and enable us to continue to stand against anti-migrant hatred.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
In solidarity,
The MRN team
