It’s October and the month to pay special attention to the UK’s Black History. Whilst we want it to be a celebratory moment and one where we learn from the Black communities, we do want to share a more sombre point with regards to those still affected by the Windrush Compensation Scheme. There are still many Windrush victims that are struggling financially and emotionally with the delays and poor decision-making from the Home Office. Rightly, some of the victims are also highlighting how they can expect to have faith in a scheme that is implemented by the same government body that also enforces the ‘hostile environment’ policies.
Alongside keeping these victims in our thoughts, and supporting their campaigns, we want to rejoice in all the Black communities and the Windrush has brought to the UK, so we encourage you to check out the Black History Month website for events, article and news.
