This Black History Month, London For Sudan and Migrants’ Rights Network are amplifying the Sudanese voices and stories that often are ignored, through a video series that we will share to social media. We are looking for 10 members of the Sudanese community in the UK who would like to take part in this video series.
The first video looks at the history of Sudan, and the role of colonialism and foreign intervention in the Sudanese genocide and displacement. The second video explores why people don’t care about Sudan, and why no safe routes have been offered for Sudanese refugees to the UK. The third video spotlights the experiences of Sudanese women in the UK and beyond.
How you can get involved:
- Lend us your voice! We’ve prepared wording, but it’s with your help that we can speak up and bring these scripts to life. If you’ve got a phone, you can help us make these stories heard. Let us know if you would like to feature in the videos.
- Let us know what Kandakas you’ve had in your life. We want to shine a light on the impact that these Sudanese women have had on your life.
We have three videos planned, but that’s not to say we can’t do more! You can get involved in future videos by:
- Sharing your stories with us! We want to hear your voice as you tell us about your experiences and stories that you have about Sudan.
- Giving us your opinions on why people don’t seem to express as much solidarity with Sudan as they would with other issues.
Whether you’re passionate about storytelling, or the fight to reclaim narratives, this is your chance to make a difference. Feature in our video to make your voice heard, and set the story straight!
