Description

MRN, CivicLeicester and The Decolonial Centre are delighted to invite you to our Abolition and Decolonisation Organising Day in Leicester!

This space will bring together local communities in the wake of racist riots across the country. We will be exploring abolition and decolonisation, which looks like working to end the racist structures that harm our communities. We will also be discussing our local and personal histories of migration and colonisation, and examine how our communities can build resistance locally- through workshops, creative sessions, and a panel discussion.

Free lunch and refreshments will be provided. Speakers to be announced – stay tuned!

Limited travel subsidies are available on a first come first served basis.

A huge thanks to the Disrupt Foundation for supporting this event.

About the organisers

The Decolonial Centre is a political education platform committed to spreading anti-colonial and decolonial perspectives on history, social theory, and current affairs. Their mission is to champion anti-colonialism, promote decolonial thinking, advocate for social justice, and inspire collective action towards decolonization.

CivicLeicester is a community media channel that uses print and digital technologies to highlight conversations of transnational significance.  Books we have published include Welcome to Britain: an Anthology of Poetry and Short Fiction (2023); Poetry and Settled Status for All: An Anthology (2022), and Black Lives Matter: Poems for a New World (2020).
