This event will feature music, food, and stories from:
- Anthony Anaxagorou: Anthony Anaxagorou is a British-born Cypriot poet, fiction writer, essayist and publisher. His third collection, Heritage Aesthetics, was published with Granta Poetry in 2022, and won the RSL Ondaatje Prize 2023. He is also the founder of Out-Spoken, London’s premier poetry and live music night, and Out-Spoken Press, an independent publisher of poetry and critical writing that aims to challenge the lack of diversity in British publishing. He is also editor-in-chief of Propel Magazine. His poetry and fiction have appeared on BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 6 Music, ITV, Vice UK, Channel 4 and Sky Arts.
- Gráinne Maguire– Gráinne Maguire is a stand up comedian, podcast host and comedy writer. She has appeared on Dave, BBC and Radio 4. She is a regular writer for The Last Leg.
- Canab Cuud– Canab Cuud is a Somali poet who composes poetry in a melodic form paired with drums. This is a tradition known as ‘Buraanbur’ that originates from Somalia hundreds of years ago: it is a mixture of singing, drumming, dancing and clapping. Canab Cuud and her team aim to preserve this part of Somali culture which was made by women and is for women. Canab Cuud Team performs at weddings, parties, and other events and also provide Buraanbur workshops for communities and women of all ages.
- Rez Kabir– Rez Kabir is an actor, storyteller, host, and producer. He writes stories and short plays, and works in theatre, film and TV, both in the UK and abroad. He is also Artistic Director of Tamarind Theatre Co based in Whitechapel and has dedicated much of his work with local communities, young people and families to support literacy, language and well being.
