Hackney Migrant Centre is a charity that runs a weekly drop-in for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. We offer immigration, housing and welfare advice, as well as health advocacy, and signposting and referrals for issues we do not cover.
Role description
Working alongside HMC’s Caseworker for Migrant Families and Young People, the Section 17 Casework Intern will specialise in providing destitution and housing support specifically targeted to migrant families with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).

The candidate will need to commit for at least 6 months. Ideally, s/he will be able to commit to two full days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am-5pm). On Wednesdays s/he would take part in the running of HMC drop-in session, shadow the Caseworker and/or other advocates and carry out front-line advocacy. On Thursdays s/he will be in the office working alongside the Caseworker.
