We’re seeking a HR trustee

This is a voluntary role for a HR Trustee/Board Member with the Migrants’ Rights Network. The HR Trustee will contribute to the strategic oversight and governance of the organisation, providing expertise in human resources. Experience with trade union matters would be advantageous. Core responsibilities include advising on HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment law and other legal and regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to support and guide the organisation in achieving its mission to promote migrants’ rights and justice.

Summary of what we are looking for

  • Significant experience in Human Resources Management, including policy development, employee relations, and recruitment practices
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making skills to contribute to the governance and long-term planning of the organisation
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork with other trustees and stakeholders
  • Prior experience in the charity sector is advantageous but not essential
  • Be an active champion of Migrants’ Rights Network

Your commitment 

This role requires at least 10 days commitment a year, and this would include attending quarterly board meetings, subcommittees, strategy and away days and reading through board reports prior to meetings.

Board meetings are currently being held in a hybrid format on a quarterly basis. Meetings in person would take place in our office in East London. 

The role is unpaid, but we will reimburse reasonable expenses e.g. childcare, travel and accommodation, if required.

We’re recruiting for volunteer interpreters/ translators!

Are you fluent in more than one language and passionate about breaking down language barriers? Join us as a Volunteer Interpreter/Translator and help create spaces of solidarity where everyone can connect, share, and feel heard.

In this role,  you will assist with small translations, such as emails, WhatsApp group messages, and announcements, as well as bigger documents such as info sheets and policy documents, —all on an adhoc basis. You may also be invited to support our workshops, events, and community gatherings.

Training and support will be provided by MRN and Common Languages, and you will normally work alongside a team of other translators.

Most of the work will be remote; we welcome volunteer applicants from across the UK and will always ensure online/ hybrid training options.

Recruitment on hold: We have currently paused recruitment due to the number of applications received to give us time to train and induct our new volunteers! We are hoping to do another round of recruitment and training in early 2026.
