Dear supporters,
Wishing all of you a Happy New Year!
2025 may have only just begun, but we’ve wasted no time in tackling the latest wave of racist anti-migrant narratives. Following the revival of far-right attempts to link systematic child sexual exploitation cases to migrant and racialised communities, we renew our commitment to fighting misinformation and racism when, and where, we see it. You can read our statement below.
As part of this commitment, we remain dedicated to understanding the root causes of displacement. We firmly believe that migration cannot be understood without understanding colonialism. This means migrant justice cannot be achieved without decolonisation and border abolition. That’s why we were really proud to launch our new Abolition and Decolonisation campaign on International Migrants Day in December. You can find out all about this exciting new campaign and how you can get involved below.
We also know that there is a lot of work to do, we don’t always have the capacity, skills or funding to do this, so we are keen to reach out to the MRN community and encourage those who can to get involved. You’ll find below an overview of all the ways to get involved with MRN, including volunteer roles, and opportunities to fundraise for us. We have also included a call-out for you to share your stories! We are inviting migrants (including refugees and people seeking asylum) and migratised communities to share your experiences with us about how your migration experience has shaped who you are as a person and how you relate to the world around you.
We end this newsletter with other campaign updates, including statements and upcoming events, information on e-visas, as well as a video where we asked the public if they were worried about migration (spoiler: they weren’t).
The fight for migrant liberation is far from over. We hope you will stay with us on our journey this year, as we continue our pursuit of justice for all migrants.
In solidarity,
The MRN Team
International Migrants Day

Migrant justice cannot be achieved without decolonisation.
Decolonisation looks like abolishing borders and the systems of oppression that they uphold. It also looks like putting an end to the colonial legacies that continue to displace people across the world and defying the colonial narratives surrounding migrants and migration.
To share your thoughts on what migrant justice means to you, you can email us at [email protected]
