End deportations now

Newsletter Nov 2024

Dear supporters,

With all the injustice going on in the world right now, it is ok to grieve. Yet we cannot afford to be hopeless. It is precisely at these moments where community and solidarity is more important than ever.

Last month saw the forcible removal of dozens of people to Nigeria and Ghana on a USC Aero flight from Stansted airport. We tried to secure legal support for people onboard, but due to the unprecedented lack of transparency surrounding this flight, we were unable to get some of the individuals off the flight. We thank everyone who reached out wanting to help and expressed support. We stand in collective rage and solidarity with all those deported and facing deportations, and we share some of their stories below.

Since our last newsletter, we have also been continuing our work on decolonising migration. We are really pleased to share our upcoming Organising Day in Bristol, a guest blog by Black Europeans, as well as our collaborations: blogs with Nisaba, Black Europeans and Friends of the Congo, and podcast episode with Black Lives Matter UK!

Finally, we also share details about our new merch, as well as other campaign updates, including a blog on Islamophobia Awareness Month, and media coverage.

We are really eager for our newsletter to be shaped by our audiences, especially those with lived experience of migration. If you would like to give us some feedback or share your opinions on what you want to see in our newsletter moving forward, then please email [email protected]

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we hope you continue to stand with us in pursuit of justice for all migrants.

In solidarity,
The MRN Team

Hostile Office

George's story- "people would rather die than be on the plane, and this is not being taken seriously. The Home Office is playing politics with people's lives".

  • Collaborative blog: Decolonising Migration (with Nisaba)
  • Collaborative blog: Debunking historical dishonesty- Congo, colonialism and migration (with Friends of the Congo) for Black History Month

Who Is Welcome?

There is widespread misunderstanding, especially within the migration charity sector, as to what Islamophobia is and how it functions. As part of our Who Is Welcome campaign, we are kicking off Islamophobia Awareness Month by exploring how Islamophobia functions as a type of racism, and why it is important that we view Islamophobia through the lens of racism.

Other Who Is Welcome? Updates
