Help keep our Solidarity Space alive!

“Initially, we came to the coffee mornings because help and support was available. After we received the support, we got to know the people here, who were really kind, and we really enjoyed coming, and so we told other people to come too.

This space is meaningful for us: we come in, we make ourselves tea and coffee, and it is a comfortable space. After we got to know everyone, and we discovered they were nice people, they became like our family, and it became important to us”.

“I like coming to this space. Sometimes I bring my equipment here to use, like my players, deck and computer.

If I can help the people coming here to have a good time, then that’s great. The asylum accommodation is not a proper place to live. They only keep us surviving in there: we are not living. So it’s nice to come here to get away from it all”.

At MRN, we understand the power of community. The Government thrives in keeping us apart, but we know we are stronger together.

That’s what makes our Solidarity Spaces so important. They are vibrant hubs of connection and belonging for racialised and migrant communities. These provide a safe place where people can come together to share experiences, celebrate their identities, shape their own journeys and build lasting friendships in a community that truly values them.

These gatherings are especially vital during the winter months, when isolation and declining mental health are all too common. By coming together in these spaces, migrant communities are able to find joy and solidarity, strengthening their ability to navigate the broader challenges they face.

We are a small charity, which means all our work is funded by generous donations and grants. Support for migrant, including refugee, communities is being stripped back, and we need your help to keep this vital space going.

Your support can help sustain this work, nurturing spaces where connection and solidarity thrive year-round, building communities that are not just welcoming but long-lasting.

Let’s continue to create a world where everyone feels they belong and their voices shape the future.

How can your donation help?

Every donation you give makes a difference!

  • £10 could help us cover travel costs for those unable to afford public transport
  • £20 could help us provide resources, games, arts and crafts, and other things that community members would like to see within the space
  • £50 could help us provide free meals, refreshments and take away boxes to those who are at the sharpest end of the cost of living crisis

You can make a one-off donation, or set up a regular payment. The latter is particularly helpful, as that gives us a dependable income to help us plan our work and help support more migrants, including refugees, in their fights for rights and justice. You could also ask your employer to enable donations through payroll giving
