London – Exhibition: Affected by Detention

What goes on in our immigration system and inside detention is often kept very hidden and those with experience are not always able to speak out.

SEE IT FROM HER + is organising an exhibition of photography work by 3 individuals who have all been affected in different ways. The work will be accompanied by the words and voices of those from the project.

The exhibition will launch at Stour Space (Hackney Wick) on August 8, at 7pm.

See It From Her + (SIFH+) would also like to extend an invitation for any women, trans, non-binary and gender variant people (especially survivor-led groups) to occupy the space in a variety of ways.
The format will be an exhibition opening night with room for speakers/ musicians/ workshops or other creative and expressive voices. The theme will be immigration and detention, but the way that people interpret that is open. We will be covering the promotion and event management so it makes sense to invite anyone with similar social goals, that would benefit from the shared platform. If any member organisations or groups are interested could they please contact Nina on [email protected]

See It From Her + (SIFH+) is a project that supports women and those who feel oppressed because of their gender identity, to have a voice and be heard through photography and image.

We run photography projects, 1-1 mentoring and exhibitions offering a creative platform for individuals to tell their own stories, share their experiences and express themselves in an accessible and different way. SIFH+ also hosts events, conducts research and facilitates discussion around gender discrimination, sexism and representation.

We are exclusively run by, and support all women (trans, intersex and cis) non-binary, agender and gender variant people.
