The Therapeutic team provides one to one counselling support and group therapy through a team of psychological therapists to asylum seekers and refugees presenting with mental distress. The team has developed Therapeutic care model to respond to the multiple needs of clients. The team applies a psychosocial perspective in meeting the needs of people who: are survivors of torture and organised violence, have experienced serious and/or acute mental health issues, are suffering from trauma or post traumatic stress disorder, or are not necessarily traumatised but are under tremendous stress or are suffering from anxiety or depression and other disabling psychological conditions; are likely to become isolated, anxious, depressed etc during the process of seeking asylum, integration or resettlement, and whose mental wellbeing is at risk.
