Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG) is looking for a Detainee Advocacy Coordinator to support the charity’s vital and busy work providing emotional and practical support to people held in the two immigration removal centres at Gatwick Airport.
We are currently developing our work to meet the rising numbers of people held in detention at Gatwick. We work closely with other NGOs to advocate for the rights of people in detention in the UK, and to call for an end to indefinite detention.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in carrying out casework with asylum seekers and other migrants, and supporting vulnerable people, and will be familiar with the issues surrounding immigration detention. You will have either been a volunteer, or worked with volunteers, and preferably have been involved in delivering training. Good communication skills are essential, as are strong IT and administrative skills.
