Collaborations For Change

Immigration Enforcement

MRN coordinates a pro bono network of lawyers and activists collaborating on advice, strategies and legal support.

The network allows lawyers to share ideas and opinions, keep-up-to-date on new developments in the law and practice, and work to bring strategic litigation on aspects of the hostile environment for migrants such as immigration raids, the intersection between employment and immigration law, and international students and academics undergoing intense monitoring by their educational establishments.

In December 2020, MRN was invited to partner with the Centre On the Dynamics of Ethnicity (CODE) to carry out the UK’s first and largest survey of its kind to understand how the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdowns were affecting the lives of ethnic and religious minority people in England, Scotland & Wales.

The survey aims to transform the policy landscape, inform work and campaigns for racial justice, and create a data legacy by providing robust evidence on a comprehensive range of issues facing ethnic and religious minority people during the pandemic.

The report and the ground-breaking results are expected to be launched in late 2021, which we will disseminate and use to demonstrate the devastating impact Covid-19 had on minoritised communities.

Coalition of Race Equality (CORE)

We work on migration in an intersectional way and the alliances that we build reflects this. To date, we have built alliances in the race equality sector and act as an active member of CORE. Through contributing to this coalition, we bridge the gap that exists between the immigration and race/ BAME sectors.
