On 26 March 2025, MRN staff and participants in the AI under Watch project presented our findings in the Public Voices In AI Event at the Houses of Parliament.
In August 2024, we received funding from the Public Voices in AI Fund to investigate the potential role and impact of AI on people seeking asylum in London and the South of England. Through workshops and interviews, we set out to inform and be informed by people seeking asylum about AI through creative activities and gather evidence of its impact on their daily lives. We’ve collated these insights into a resource co-produced with people seeking asylum and AI experts to help inform migrants, including refugees and people seeking asylum as well as support services. Read the resource here.
It was extremely important that we were able to represent the voices of those with lived experience of the asylum system in spaces like Parliament, through co-production and collaboration. It was great to also connect with others at the event, including other grantees. We remain committed to exposing the impact of AI and its proliferation in the asylum system, and look forward to events like this in the future.
